About Bizzy Bees

Bizzy Bees Crafts & Supplies, commonly known by its shortened title of Bizzy Bees, has been operating in the town of Warragul since 1997. It started out in a tiny hive selling wool and other general craft items, then in partnership with the Scrapbook Factory, stocked scrapbooking products. With the rapidly increasing number of scrapbooking products and more wool stock, Bizzy Bees moved to a larger hive to meet the needs of West Gippsland crafters.

Anita (the Queen Bee, so named by her husband) & Glenn Lloyd (the drone) purchased Bizzy Bees in June 2006.  The story of how Anita took over the hive you may find interesting – if not skip the next few paragraphs.

Anita started knitting at 4 years of age, crocheting at 8 and embroidering at 9. Now she includes card making, papercraft, scrapbooking, cross stitching, sewing and beading into her craft repertoire. Anita’s father used to talk about her mother and Anita running a wool shop, as both women were avid knitters, but the timing was not right and that never happened. Anita married Glenn in 1987 and they have three children, now all teens.

One day while looking in Bizzy Bees for some paper products, Glenn made a comment about Anita having enough stuff in her craft room to start her own shop (and which crafter doesn’t have a stash!) to the previous owner, who responded with “well, Bizzy Bees is for sale”.  Glenn and Anita walked out of the shop, Glenn immediately turned to Anita, “why haven’t you done something about this?” Anita already had a job, and owning a craft shop was just the thing of dreams.

Glenn was determined to turn Anita’s dream into reality, and working together they made it happen. Glenn keeps working his day job to pay the mortgage, but is often in the shop helping out (his odd hours allows this). Amy, the eldest daughter helps out on a Saturday, and takes classes during the school holidays, while Katrina and Robert help out when needed. By now you probably can tell that Bizzy Bees is a family business.

Glenn is a bit of a computer buff, and saw the need to go on the internet. Not just for our current customers, but to also offer products to crafters further a field.

Initially Bizzy Bees will have yarns & accessories, Americana paints and papercraft products available on line, but you can call or email Bizzy Bees. If you are looking for a particular craft item Anita will try and source the product for you. If we can’t get it for some reason, we will try and point you in the right direction.

The shop stocks items as diverse as clock mechanisms, polystyrene balls, paints, candlewicks, raffia, icy pole sticks, matchstick and lots of other items.

Bizzy Bees is there for you, so that you get your craft projects finished!  Give us a call, or send us an email.
